Highlights - color recovery

Recommended Posts

I would suggest to

  1. set develop assistant output to rgb/32
  2. reduce exposure to minimum (-3 / -5). It should be really dark, this will be corrected in tone map later.
  3. develop
  4. use tone map persona.
  5. Set local contrast and tone compression to zero.
  6. start raising both in small steps, to boost contrast and hdr to a subtle effect
  7. This will restore almost all outblown highlights
  8. add sharpening: highpass filter, 1px, blend mode linear light
  9. add unsharp mask, 1px

great image,👍🏽

but the facade is getting bluish white from the strong light pole. You would need to correct this using hsl, curves, or white balance adjustment.

this will be added as layer by default, you can use merge down to get the result baked into the original layer.

White Balance Adjustment - Move Tint slider towards Green

White Balance Adjustment is available in both Develop & Photo Persona

If necessary/required mask (Paint-Out) areas you don't want affected by the White Balance Adjustment

Or, alternatively, invert adjustment and Paint-In areas you want affected by the White Balance Adjustment (i.e. just the building)
