walt.farrell
This works correctly in 2.2.1 (Mac or Windows) but fails in 2.3.0.2114 (Mac or Windows). Create a new document; add a text frame. Add Filler text; expand field. Insert cursor at the start of a paragraph. Type "See " and switch to the Cross-Reference panel. Click the Add Cross-Reference icon. Add a cross-reference to the next (or a following) paragraph. In 2.2.1 the cross-reference contains the initial words of the paragraph you referenced. In 2.3.0.2114, the cross-reference contains an extraneous "See", plus the next words following the place you're inserting the reference (i.e., of the paragraph you're adding the reference into) with the icon for an object reference in the middle. MikeTO
The issue is that cross-references are somethings off by one paragraph. In this case, you're making a cross-reference to the paragraph containing the cross-reference which is why there is an obj tag there. I experience this daily with existing cross-references because they keep pointing to the wrong thing. This has the same outcome as this bug report although it's a different trigger. Staff Sean P Posted November 9, 2023 Staff Share Posted November 9, 2023 Thanks Walt! I'll get this logged and linked. Interestingly I couldn't reproduce initially and that was because I later went in and edited an existing Ref to be Paragraph Body. See attached. Staff Affinity Info Bot Posted November 22, 2023 Staff Share Posted November 22, 2023 The issue "Cross Reference: Paragraph Body references itself when created instead of selected paragraph" (REF: AF-1124) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.3.0.2150". This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release. Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions. If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
