Cross-Reference inserts incorrect Paragraph information (, Windows or Mac)

Recommended Posts

This works correctly in 2.2.1 (Mac or Windows) but fails in (Mac or Windows).

  1. Create a new document; add a text frame.
  2. Add Filler text; expand field.
  3. Insert cursor at the start of a paragraph. Type "See " and switch to the Cross-Reference panel.
  4. Click the Add Cross-Reference icon.
  5. Add a cross-reference to the next (or a following) paragraph.

In 2.2.1 the cross-reference contains the initial words of the paragraph you referenced.

In, the cross-reference contains an extraneous "See", plus the next words following the place you're inserting the reference (i.e., of the paragraph you're adding the reference into) with the icon for an object reference in the middle.

The issue is that cross-references are somethings off by one paragraph. In this case, you're making a cross-reference to the paragraph containing the cross-reference which is why there is an obj tag there. I experience this daily with existing cross-references because they keep pointing to the wrong thing.

This has the same outcome as this bug report although it's a different trigger.
