Currently, you can smooth paths in two ways (Correct me if I'm wrong): 'Smooth curve' tool which works globally on the curve and has no settings. Or 'Convert to Smooth/Smart' which works on selected vertices. It would be nice if Designer V2 had a brush like tool for smoothing curves, with tolerance settings for better control over smoothing. There is a similar tool in Adobe Illustrator. Frozen Death Knight, Rudolphus, lepr and 1 other

Yes. There are many applications and it can be useful when you've worked with the pencil tool, including in sculpting mode, where you can actually use the pencil tool as a roughen tool, but the result can quickly become too rough and jagged. Smoothen can also quickly and conveniently add some algorithmic and maths aesthetics to curves, so you can get your work done quickly without having to spend too much time correcting nodes. This is pretty important when you're not a hobbyist and time is money. Or, of course, when you'd rather spend your time on something other than correcting corrections or being extremely accurate with every node in a large illustration. Frozen Death Knight
Smooth, smudge, noise, randomise, and sharpen curve tools would be cool to have, yes.
