Hangman Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 This is listed as fixed in the 2.3.0.2096 Beta but there still appear to be issues... Quote Packed Footnotes can appear in the wrong linked text frame [AF-834] Three linked text frames... Note how Footnotes one, two and three vanish when they should appear in the first text frame... Footnotes eight and nine should appear in the second text frame adjacent to Footnote seven but again they've moved to the third text frame. Staff Sean P Posted October 25, 2023 Staff Posted October 25, 2023 Hi Hangman, I'm not sure if this is intentional, as your notes have a Min Gap before of 12pt, so there isn't enough space to show them. In this scenario I'm not sure what the best solution would be, whether to keep them hidden as they are and let Preflight Panel warn the user they have hidden notes. I've queried it with development to see what should happen! Quote
Hangman Posted October 25, 2023 Author Posted October 25, 2023 Hi @Sean P, Thanks for your feedback... I don't believe the 'Min Gap Before' setting is the issue since I can equally set that to 0 pt and still see the same problem. As there are three Linked text frames, even if that were the case then the relevant lines of text along with their associated Footnotes should flow to the adjacent text frame rather than vanish completely bearing in mind there is plenty of room to accommodate them... Also, as shown in the previous post (second image), Footnotes eight and nine should appear in the second text frame adjacent to Footnote seven as there is room for all three to appear on that line... Staff Sean P Posted October 26, 2023 Staff Posted October 26, 2023 Hi Hangman, Thanks for this! I got a reply from development earlier this morning who said that: It should never lose the footnotes. Normally if they don’t fit, their line gets moved to the next page, or they can get split into multiple parts. At worst some of the text including footnotes might be in overflow, in which case preflight should warn. What seems to be happening is that it tries to put the third line on the first column with its footnotes, finds they don’t fit, moves the third line to the second frame, then somehow forgets about the footnotes already added to the first frame. This issue has now had a fix submitted for it. stokerg 1 Quote
Hangman Posted October 26, 2023 Author Posted October 26, 2023 Hi @Sean P, Many thanks for the update and the clarification sought with the development team... That appears to be precisely what is happening and it can equally impact large numbers of footnotes... Thanks for submitting the fix...
