Since updating to Affinity 2.2.1 any file save as a template will not open saying that I do not have permission to open them   Mac OS Sonoma 14.1.    Will open any other file except templates.   Have created a new file in Photo and exported it as a template to my desktop.  Have tried to open it will all the Affinity Software but it will not let me saying that I do not have permission...

Can anyone please help as I have very many file saved as templates.

I think this is a macOS issue and not related to Affinity.

Affinity presumably doesn't have access to the folder containing your templates. You can test this by copying one of the templates somewhere else - desktop, downloads, etc - and then opening it in Affinity. If it opens, the problem is with Affinity not having access to your template folder.

Where are your templates stored? Have you checked that Affinity has access to the parent folder with macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders as shown here?

Just to make sure, have you tried Opening .aftemplate files now that you're using Sonoma?

Yes, I don't have any issues.

Templates are stored locally.    I have opened privacy and security as you suggested but cannot find any Affinity Programmes listed ???

The "Full Disk Access" message is shown when you've given an app full access to your computer with macOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access. This isn't the way macOS is set up these days, it's something you have to turn on, so I'm unsure how you got there, but it doesn't matter.

What does "local" mean? On your internal drive? Is it a folder that is synced to iCloud? If they're in an iCloud folder then Affinity isn't going to have access to them because that screenshot of yours is missing the iCloud Drive setting. Here are instructions to give it access: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/icloud/mmfeb236a772/icloud#:~:text=Set up iCloud for third-party apps on your Mac&text=macOS 13 to 13.2%3A Choose,button%2C then select the app.

Also, did you try copying one to another folder like Desktop or Downloads and opening it from there? I assume it will work fine from another location.

Are you able to use File > Open and open the template from your templates folder? I assume this won't work fine if the problem is as I think, that Affinity doesn't have access to the folder.

That folder is likely synced to iCloud Drive. Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click [your name] at the top of the sidebar, click iCloud on the right, click iCloud Drive, , click Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive, then give the app access.

Note that your full name is visible in the screenshot. If you don't want it visible you may wish to edit your post and delete or obscure the screenshot.
