Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

You should be able to install it. What error message do you get? Can you give us a screenshot?

That error message suggests that you have Designer (successfully?) installed on your new Mac, as it refers to the app Quitting unexpectedly.
Is it Quitting while launching or immediately after launch?
If so have you tried a Control startup of the app?
Launch the app from the Dock and as soon as it starts bouncing up and down, hold down the control key until you see the Clear User Data window.
The first three items should be automatically selected and then hit the confirm button at the bottom of the window.

It quits while launching.

And when I hold the control key it gives the same error.

Is it possible that my Affinity Designer is to old for the new MacBook? Because it has no problem with my old MacBook Pro (2014)

And Markw and Walt Farrel thank you for your help!

If you purchased Affinity's software in 2019, it is certainly the version 1 that you have. And if your new Mac is running Sonoma, there is a bug between them that obliges you to run Affinity V1 in dark UI.

Explanations and workaround are to be found here :

thanks all.

Indeed the crash started when I wanted to change the background colour.
I think I have to wait for the team of Affinity Designer to solve the problem.

Just go with the macOS Finder etc. to your "~/Library/Preferences" user folder and delete this file there ...

  • com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.plist

... there. - Afterwards try to start ADe again in order to see what happens!

No, you can reset defaults for Designer, so that it uses the dark user's interface, which will not crash.

P.S. If @v_kyr advice does not suffice, re-read the post I mentioned above for a more detailed procedure.

See also related this thread linked below for Affinity version 1.10.6 (despite it's title it deals with V1 apps) and how to fix that, which looks to be the same problem you have.

Oufti,

Thanks

I managed by deleting

Designer defaults delete com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner

in

Applications > Utilities > Terminal.

But I guess the background has to stay dark now until Affinity has solved the problem?
