Sven007
Hi! I am a former Illustrator user, I don't remember if this was possible in Illustrator, but is it possible in Designer to create several object on the same layer? Instead for new layer for every object? Sincerely,
Old Bruce
You can use Layer layers. They are similar to grouping the items, containers for several 'layers'. henryanthony
It was and, I assume it still is, possible in Illustrator to draw multiple items on a layer and easily move items to other layers. Not a great implementation of layers in Affinity - Version 1. But, oh well, It's just a different way of working to a similar end with a different means. I wonder if this is because of patent issues with Adobe. LOL, I remember when Adobe first introduced layers. It was one of the greatest features ever in my opinion. It is not quite clear what "item" you have in mind with "draw multiple items" and what with "layer". In addition to @Old Bruce's hint about the layer type "Layer" that may contain all sorts of layer types or "items", you can create multiple lines/strokes/curves on one layer if you activate the option in the Context Toolbar: … and you can separate such a "Curves" object into several layers with the menu option Layer -> Geometry -> Separate Curves: In AD + APh you have an Assistent window to set your preferences for certain actions within the Layers panel when creating new items: henryanthony 1 Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
henryanthony
@thomaso By "items" I mean things that can be created by the program such as lines (paths/curves), polygons, text, etc., and imported images. Thanks for the enlightenment. Clearly, I refer to my experience with older versions of Illustrator and try to use AD to reproduce that experience. From your comments I see there is a greater depth of organization - and functionality - in AD than that I have come to understand as yet. Fortunately, my limited knowledge has been enough to use AD to my advantage and get the work done that I need. There is so much more to discover! Quote Affinity Photo and Design V1. KarinC
Personally, I wouldn't want multiple objects on a layer.
Sven007
The question wasn't about what others thought. I am done here.
KarinC
It's not about what others think, it has to do with the power of using layers.
