Convert rectangle shape text into curve shape text.

Recommended Posts

AFAIK there isn't any such curve text conversion possibility (at least not in v1 apps), as plain curves aren't text containers. - As a workaround you can copy the text to the clipboard first, then remove it and apply convert to curves. Afterwards paste the text back on top of the curve object and group them together.

Hi @earl_grey,

Is it an option to convert the rectangle to a curve prior to adding the text?

Thanks Hangman - I was about to reply with the same suggestions as above!

The order of operations is what's important here, when you draw your Quick Shape and use the Text Tool, it is converted to a 'Shape Text' object, which cannot be edited with the Node Tool, as is the case with Quick Shape objects.

When filling this Shape Text object with text and then using Convert to Curves, it's expected that the entire selected layer/object is converted, meaning your text is also converted to curves.

However, as shown above, if you first draw your Quick Shape and now use Convert to Curves first, then use the Text Tool on the resulting Curves object, you will see this is now a 'Curve Text' object, which can be manipulated with the Node Tool as expected - but allows for text editing within, rather than having text that has been converted to Curves.

I hope this clears things up :)

I think it would be nice if it could be converted into a curve in the "Text frame". Please save this as a suggestion.
