Is it possible to change the defaults for "New from Clipboard?"

I came to ask the same question as I assumed it would be a simple anser but found this through a search. It really impedes my workflow as I constantly use Copy From Clipboard to copy images from a 300dpi file to create a new file but they are massively oversized as they are at 96dpi. Is there any workaround at all for this please?

Setting the DPI value of the document to the desired value? (Resize Document, untick Resample, set DPI)

Thank you for your answer. Sorry, I did realise that I can change the DPI in a document but what I need to be able to do is copy, e.g. a 10cm circle from a multi-layered image and have it open at its original 300 DPI in a new document of 10cm. This is so that I can save separate elements from files. This is what I thought New from Clipboard would do but it doesn't, the circle is be in the top left hand corner of a much larger, otherwise blank file if I do that. That is why I asked if there was a workaround of any sort.

You can create Slices from your "separate elements" in the Export Persona of Designer or Photo, and Export them from there as separate documents.
