GIANT Index markers appeating

Hi @Dennison,

Is it not perhaps just a hangover from the text being at a larger size at some point... If you move the caret between the index market and the letter 'L' what point size is shown in the Character Panel?

If you click in the text frame and select all and enter 14 pt for the text size, does it rectify the large index marker?

All the text was formatted with Text Styles, so it's not a left over

Select the text, the font size is blank.

Click between letters the font size is 14 (as per Text Style.

Click between the Marker and first letter, the font size is 58.3

Select the first word and select 14 size font, the marker goes back to normal size.

It does seem like an aberration - though actually bigger markers makes them easier to find again.

Hi @Dennison,

Is there a chance that at some point in the process, the document has had a change of resolution, either between translations or for any other reason or that a text frame has been copied from a different 72 dpi document to your 300 dpi document?

I only ask because there is a known bug which would account for this exact change in font size

It happens when either a document is changed from 300 dpi to 72 dpi, saved and then re-opened and a new text frame is added and text flowed from an existing text frame to the newly created text frame or when a text frame is copied from a 72 dpi document to a 300 dpi document and text flowed from an existing text frame to the newly added text frame...

Once the document is changed back to 300 dpi any newly linked text again appears at the correct size but if all text is selected and changed to the correct size the oversized text reverts back to 14 pt but the original correctly sized 14 pt text now appears as 3.36 pt text so you effectively have a mix of 72 dpi and 300 dpi resolutions in the same document...

Font Size Percentage Increase

  • ((300 - 72) / 72) * 100 = 316.67%
  • 14 pt + 316.67% = 58.33 pt
