jimrome
In Publisher 2, there does not seem to be a cut and paste option for tables.
GaryLearnTech
Change to the Move tool Single click your table to select it (ie don't click back into one of the cells) Cut (or Copy) Paste Quote —— Gary —— Photo/Designer/Publisher: Affinity Store, v2.4.n release Mac mini (M1, 2020), 16GB/2TB, macOS Ventura 13.4.1(c) • MacBook Pro (Intel), macOS Ventura • Windows 10 via VMware Fusion • iOS: current release
R C-R
If you mean cutting an entire table from one page & pasting it into another, just select the table with the Move Tool, cut it, change to the page you want to paste it too, & paste it there, just like you would do for any other object. On Macs (probably on Windows as well) you can right-click on the table in the workspace & select Cut from the popup menu & do the same on another page but choose the Paste menu item. jimrome
Where is the move tool? If I right-click on the table, there is no cut.
GaryLearnTech
Unless you have reorganised your Tools panel, it's the arrow at the top. https://affinity.help/publisher2/English.lproj/pages/Tools/tools_move.html In your screenshot, you have clicked inside a cell. Here's what you get if you right-click once you have clicked the Move tool. jimrome
I do not seem to be able to select the whole table. The top cell has a picture frame in it. If I select it with the layers tool, Cut only cuts the caption.

There is no layers tool but if you select the Table layer in the Layers panel with the Move Tool active, the entire table should be selected. At that point you should be able to right-click on the table in the document window to get the Cut option, or just use the Edit menu's Cut option or the keyboard shortcut for that. GaryLearnTech
How about if you right-click (having first selected the Move tool) on one of the other cells? One with regular text? Just a single-right-click… Quote —— Gary —— Photo/Designer/Publisher: Affinity Store, v2.4.n release Mac mini (M1, 2020), 16GB/2TB, macOS Ventura 13.4.1(c) • MacBook Pro (Intel), macOS Ventura • Windows 10 via VMware Fusion • iOS: current release
jimrome
No dice. Cut just does the caption.
jimrome
I made a new table, and it seems to have worked. I cannot add a table inside my main text frame. I have to click outside the frame, make the table, and then adjust the sides to bring it into the text area. Is this normal?

I am not sure I fully understand what you are doing but if you are just changing the size of the text frame to enclose the table, that does not make the table part of the text frame, nor does dragging the table into the text frame. jimrome
It seems to be in the main text frame because text flows around it. How do I insert a table IN the main text frame then? The table cursor disappears when I put it in the main text frame. Sorry to be so dense. AP2 has a steep learning curve for me.

Can you upload an example APub file with just the text frame & the table on the page so we can see what is going on with it? jimrome
In the real page, the table is 1/2 way down the column shamPage.afpub
R C-R
Why is everything on that page nested in your Even Master page? jimrome
My main reason is that my format (see https://stelnews.info/pdf/issue_184) has decorations around the page. I could not figure out another way to do it. snTemplate.afpub
walt.farrell
If you have them need in something from a Master Page, you'll probably need to use Edit Detached on the Master layer on the document page in order to select and move the item. If such things are nested in master page layers than as @walt.farrell mentioned you will need to use Edit Detached on that master layer on the document page to select those items so you can cut or move them. Do not add table to text frame. Better pinn it. 2023-08-11 07-34-43.mp4 2. When you insert filler text, in settings select option as in image below to have possibility to edit text. anto
Use text (intended) parameter in Pinning panel instead Page Margin to allow the table to follow the text. 2023-08-11 07-49-36.mp4
jimrome
I don't think I want to pin the table since I need it to stay in the same spot relative to the text.
