I use Win 10 and Affinity Photo currently in version 2.10. I already had a lot of my own macros and created a new one today. After I gave it a name and used it a few times, suddenly all my own macros were gone. Only the standard macros were still available.

Since I had a marcro export file from January, I was able to save most of them, but unfortunately a few important new macros have disappeared.

What can I do to restore them? I just tested if the updates might be reconstructed when I update to version 2.1.1. Unfortunately, this is not. Unfortunately, I'm pretty devastated, because it took a lot of time to make the macros and not all of them can be reconstructed exactly like this.

If you did not make backups of your macro category, you may be it of luck.

On the other hand, if you have good system backups, you may be able to restore your macros.propcol file from them.

This FAQ will help you locate that file:

I made an export of the macros, before I updated to V2. I guess you mean this when writing about macro backup? If there is an other (maybe more comfortable) way to backup the marcos by affinity, please let me know.

The windows backups are made automatically every week. I will try to restore it. Thank you for the link to the path! The latest macros will be lost, because they are not older than an week. But getting the others is better than nothing.

It is important to me you recognise this as an bug from affinity. In future I will export the macros very often but solving the bug might help many others in future!

The Library panel settings (burger menu) let you export a macro category as a .afmacros file. You should do that periodically.

Serif will comment on that when one of their staff get to your report.

If we can find a workflow/process to replicate the issue so we can debug the app at that point it can be logged with the developers. When it did occur on your system was you doing anything particular?

I can describe what I did before:

I need to add a new logo to the bottom right of a few one-page PDF files. To do this, I created a new macro that loads the new logo in the form of an Affinity file, places it in the bottom right corner and then resizes it. I had tested the macro on a few files and now wanted to apply it to the PDF files and closed all open images. Unfortunately, since you can't batch process PDF files with Affinity, I opened about 8 files by dragging and dropping them from the Windows directory into Affinity Photo.

When I wanted to apply the new macro to each of the now opened PDF files, I noticed that all my selfmade macros had disappeared except for those affinity-macris in the Standard category. Unfortunately, these were two categories with quite a few macros made by my own. I was able to restore most of them as described above.

I hope this description helps to find the source of the error. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The error occurred with the German language version 2.1.

I had not yet installed the latest 2.1.1. The OS is Windows 10.
