Copying a table 2x4 between 2 files either squashes the custom icons for some reason or just gets rid of them for no reason or hides them as well as disables the visibility toggle for all of them

( The same thing happens when copying the table in the same file, doesn't even mater if there are multiple artboards )

I can provide both files via private link

( The amount of bugs I am finding really makes you question to what end the software is tested before being released to the customers )

Tables are, of course, a Publisher function. But Publisher documents usually use Pages, not Artboards. So, since you've mentioned Artboards, can you explain a bit more about your document structure?

Aren't the files supposed to be editable in any of the 3 apps?

Considering that I can modify the table in all 3 I would say that it should work in all 3 without breaking stuff despite of whether there are artboards or not.

Going back to the issue, I have done some testing which came down to the table breaking when being inside a symbol, the pasted/duplicated symbol had issues with displaying the inner custom inline symbols. ( DOES NOT INVOLVE ARTBOARDS )

It breaks even further once being detached.

Video showing the issue.

Yes, they are supposed to be, but there will be some limitations. For example, you can't add new linked Text Frames, or modify the linkages between Text Frames, in Designer even if the document was created in Publisher.

And there have been issues in the past with Artboards, and some remain unresolved (I think). Some functions need to work differently when Artboards are involved, and this may not have been taken into account during their design and (especially) testing. So when functions are used in unusual combinations, and especially when Artboards are involved outside of Designer, I find it wise to ask.

(I would have probably made a similar comment if you had mentioned Symbols earlier :) as combining Symbols and Tables feels unusual to me. )

Good work figuring that out.

How about now :), the simplest and fastest way to recreate this bug. ( I should speed run it )

No artboards, no tables

Just plain "Af" Designer Tools.

The reason i was using a table inside a symbol was to have dynamic text spacing between multiple text fields to use for contact details across multiple artbaords while still being able to edit them.

Hi @Ezbaze,

Thanks for your report and succinct screen recording - this is certainly helpful!

I can confirm that I've been able to replicate this issue here (and also affects a 'floating' pinned object as well as 'inline' when converted to a Symbol) and therefore I'm logging it with our devs as a bug now.

I hope this helps :)
