Where is the line break (soft-return) button in 2.1?

Recommended Posts

I just discovered the software keyboard in Affinity Designer doesn't support Shift+Return to perform a soft return. This actually does work in Apple Notes so Apple has built this functionality in, but it's not working in designer.

When I use an external keyboard I cannot perform a soft return using Shift+Return because for some reason Apple didn't build that in.

So my current workaround is the old fashioned method, perform the soft return in Apple Notes using the software keyboard, take the whole text and paste it into Affinity.

In Publisher (though not in Designer), you can enter them from the software keyboard by tapping this icon to get symbols, etc.

Yes this used to be present in Designer as well but it doesn't appear to be currently there in 2.1

Can you please confirm the iPad model and iPadOS that you are running asI am seeing the symbol icon on the on screen keyboard in Designer 2.1 on my iPad Pro running iPadOS 16.5

For me, the symbol icon is present in the on-screen keyboard. However, in Designer, it does not provide these functions that are provided in Publisher (screenshot below). Of course, the functions like Odd/Even Page Break, Page Break, and Column Break, and Frame Break, might not be meaningful in Designer. But Line Break is, and it's not available as the entire section for Breaks is missing.

And shouldn't Shift+Return work natively, without needing to use the on-screen keyboard?

I'm on an 11in M1 iPad Pro with Affinity Designer 2.1.0. Screenshots attached. The first tab available is "symbols".
