Remi Turcotte Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Unless I drink too much kool-aid: An image opened in Affinity, selected in part or entirely, then copied to another image, should not be considered as a changed image, and therefore should be closed when clicking the "X" without having to click on any other UI dialogs. walt.farrell Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Did the contents of the History panel change? If so, the image is considered modified. Gripsholm Lion Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 It slightly annoys me, too. A computer program may consider it to be modified, but if I haven't actually edited, added, or removed anything, I don't. Computer logic versus human intuition, I suppose. It could be fixed by a preference: (1) ask whether to save (default) or (2) suppress the prompt and discard changes on closure. I would use that option if it existed anyway. In the case of getting a selection from another image, it may be just as well to place it and make the selection in situ. Quote

But, in your panic, you choose to close the document rather than save your work so far You would be the first to complain to Serif that you had just lost 2 hours work, if you were not prompted to save your work The main mistake here by Serif is that they do not give you the usual option/warning to save as an Affinity document, (as is the case when choosing to save an image that has other non-pixel related work done on it) which would have preserved the selection when you reopen the document (screenshot below) Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
Gripsholm Lion Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Well, as I pointed out, that is why any future change in behaviour should only be opt-in via a preference. Remi Turcotte 1 Quote
