HerrBill Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 I have 8 stacked raw ORF (Olympus) files. I want to develop the first file in the develop persona and sync the adjustments to the remaining seven before exporting them to the photo persona for merging. I know how to do this in photoshop but not in Affinity Photo. Can anybody help? Quote
Old Bruce Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 You will need to to use Photo 2, this won't work in the first version of Photo. Set the Develop Assistant to use the Serif Labs for the RAW Engine. This is necessary for Mac OS only, Windows uses only only the Serif Labs. Open one of the .ORF files in Photo 2. This will automatically put you in the Develop Persona. Set the Context toolbar to use either Linked or Embedded in the Output: section. Don't do any adjustments yet, just hit the Develop button. Use the Move tool to select the only layer in the Layers panel and you should now be able to Start Recording a new Macro Hit the Develop Button to go to the Develop Persona and now you can make all the necessary adjustments to the raw file. When you are happy hit the Develop button and you'll be returned to the Photo Persona. Stop recording the Macro, save it to the Library with a well chosen name, I use the file number of the raw file. Close the file, you can save it or not, I don't with bother saving it but that is just me. ========================= Now, do a File > New Batch Job... and choose all the raw files and use the new Macro you just recorded, (remember to hit the Apply button) I would use TIFF 16 bits RGB for the output at whatever size you want. We cannot use .afphoto as input for the New Stack files. You'll now have 16 bit tiffs to use for your New Stack.... file. HerrBill Posted April 2, 2023 Author Posted April 2, 2023 I just started the process but fell at the first fence. As soon as i hit record i got an error message which said 'Please end your recording session before using develop'. Yes, I'm using Photo2, the exe version and followed the steps you outlined. Quote

Rather than selecting the Develop Persona from the Toolbar, double-click the RAW layer in the Layers panel. That should put you into the Develop Persona without causing that error message. HerrBill Posted April 3, 2023 Author Posted April 3, 2023 The double click in the layers panel did the trick. I am up and running and am greatly indebted to you for your step by step solution. I have no hesitation in recommending this rubric to anybody who want to stack Raw files in Affinity Photo. If it's okay with you Bruce I would like to post this solution on DPreview where i have a similar thread running. Thanks again. Bill Quote

Fine with me. I cannot remember who it was who first spotted this. My original solution was much more time consuming.
