Upgrade V2.1
HerrBill replied to HerrBill's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I have just downloaded the EXE version and it appears working ok with FastStone viewer. Thanks for your prompt assistance. -
When I open affinity Photo I’m prompted to download 2.1 MSIX which is not suitable for loading into my program files. Can anybody point me to the program compatible version.

The double click in the layers panel did the trick. I am up and running and am greatly indebted to you for your step by step solution. I have no hesitation in recommending this rubric to anybody who want to stack Raw files in Affinity Photo. If it's okay with you Bruce I would like to post this solution on DPreview where i have a similar thread running. Thanks again. Bill

I decided to soft proof some images yesterday. Some were quite badly out of gamut which I found difficult to clear. In my endeavours I changed the blend mode and surprise surprise I got the all clear. I saved the image as an AP image and when I reopen it again the gamut was still clear. At this stage, I exported the image as a jpeg and when I reopened it in AP, the out of gamut was back. I printed it with the out of Gamut and it turned out fine!! Explanation as to what to why the jpeg did not retain the correction would be appreciated.

Out of Colour Gamut
HerrBill replied to HerrBill's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks for drawing my attention to the soft proof adjustment layer. I wasn't aware of its existence. It has done its magic for me. Thanks -
How does one correct out of colour gamut. I use the Qimage utility for printing. On my recent images I have been getting out of colour gamut warnings. Up to now I have never bother checking for out of gamut and prints have turned out fine. This time around my prints came out sickly looking. In fact they printed showing that horrible, looking out of gamut grey. I have rechecked my settings but to no avail. For example I processed and printed the image using the sRGB profile and it still was out of gamut. Can anybody shed any light on what may be wrong?

I have installed upgrade 2.03 and note lots of outstanding fixes. With regards accessing AP 2 via external editing programmes viz FastStone is this now possible with 2.0.3

where is Photo stored on my Desktop
HerrBill replied to HerrBill's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks for the file path to Affinityphoto2. Unfortunately this file can not be accessed by the system!! Back to square one again. Does anybody know a way around this road block? -
where is Photo stored on my Desktop
HerrBill replied to HerrBill's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I want to keep Affinity on the C-Drive but I need to change the location of Photo2 from its current location in Apps to The Affinity folder under programmes on the c drive. I use the FastStone image viewer for managing my files and I need to add a location for photo2 in order to edit an afphoto file in an external programme. I need to do the same with Adobe Bridge which I use to download images and to open them directly in Photo2. Windows wont let me do this. Is there no way around this? -
Affinity Photo - Shortcuts
HerrBill replied to HerrBill's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Thank you very much for your prompt clarification -
Shortcuts –Affinity Photo Recently, I have started using shortcuts in AP and find most useful. As I have used up all shortcut possibilities under preferences, I wonder if it would be possible to create one’s own dedicated shortcuts. For example; A Shortcut for ‘Mask Below’ would speed up my workflow appreciably. All suggestions welcome. Bill

Thanks to both of you four replies. I found the blog on the xmc web site very informative. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. To be honest, I don't think I will pay much attention to Gamut checks in the future unless of course I find colours in the final print are really off. The CYMK colour space is much smaller than RGB and as editing in done in the main with RGB in conjunction with an ICC profile; it stands to reason that certain colours will always be outside the printers colour space. I will leave the rendering to perceptual. It has done a good job for me in the past. My sincere thanks to all who replied.

Thanks Wait for your reply. I refer to the explanation of ‘Gamut Check’ at the bottom of the quick help page. It states that the gamut check will display RGB colours without a CYMK equivalent as gray. 1. Can you tell me what is meant by CYMK equivalent? 2. When I select Adobe RGB, the images show the colours exactly as they should be. But as soon as I switch to a Photo paper profile, gray areas show up. Can you explain what exactly is going on here?

Hi Callum, I didn't expect to report back so soon. This morning while reviewing previously edited images, the images displayed stark continuous horizontal lines across the photo. I immediately reset hardware acceleration and when I viewed the same images again, all were all good. The only conclusion i can come to is that Affinity photo is misbehaving but I don't know why? The question is should i download a new version of affinity photo and see if the 'non responding' persists. what do you think? So over to you for advice.
