  1. Thanks Walt, but as you know I already have a macro recording of my edit flow which works fine. Unfortunately, when I run it in batch processing the final image is a merged one and does not save the individual layer steps to the final image which means I am unable to quickly apply fine tuning to the final image when necessary. This can be a bit of drag. I Presume there is no chance of Serif rectifying this?
  2. Although, I no longer use Photoshop for editing but when I did, I do remember that it was possible to apply a single edit flow to multiple images. If I could apply this to Affinity Photo, it would save me considerable time. Does anybody know whether this is possible and if what the routine is?
  3. Hi Paolo, If there is a mismatch, how do I check it out. Any ideas? Bill
  4. Hi Walt, I have opted to save my edits as tiffs instead of .afphoto. As I use Bridge, which is free, it will allow me to read the tiff format with no problem. As Affinity will also allow me to save layers to the tiff file, I see no further need to save either the .afphoto or raw file. This should save me considerable file storage in the future. Thanks again for your input. Much appreciated. William
  5. Thanks for filling me on the background to proprietary and open file formats. It explains a lot.
  6. I recently acquired 'FastRawViewer' for viewing and culling raw images. In this respect it is really fine utility and a viable alternative to photo mechanic. Despite supporting a variety of image types, the utility does not support the Affinity format. when I queried this with them, i was informed that .Afinity is not an open source. Can anybody shed any light on their motive for not supporting the Affinity format?
  7. My apologies to @old Bruce for inadvertently omitting to mention you in my despatches. I have to add that the assistance that i have received since jointing Affinity photo some years back has been superb. Cheers
  8. Thanks to both Walt and Ldina for your responses. I am now able to record macros on raw images as well as batch processing multiple images. This will save me a lot of time in editing images in the future.
  9. I'm trying to streamline my workflow and tried to record some steps in the develop persons as follows:- After opening the raw file in affinity, I checked that the raw embedded option was active. I then checked the Develop button and went directly to the photo persona. I open the macro and pressed record. I then clicked on the Develop persona and got the alert ‘Please end your macro recording session before using Develop’. Is it not possible to use macro in both the develop and photo personas?
  10. Thank you both for your responses. I much appreciate them. I still don’t understand why Affinity went to the trouble to create duplicate files. Most photographers are the sole users of their computers and there is little danger of anybody else interfering with the saved edits. I now know, from trial and error, that if I want to open a locked file, I simply use the ‘Open Command’ in Affinity Photo and bingo it opens. Anyhow, locked files according to Affinity have a duration of 5 minutes. So what’s the big deal you might ask and rightly so!
  11. I got a reply to the above subject which I quite can't follow. Also the blog was immediately closed down by affinity. Why I Don't know. Firstly, what useful purpose is there in locking a file after a re_edit? A further complication arises because the image on the thumbnail is blanked out by the AF logo which prevent one from quickly recognising what the image content is. Very frustrating to say the least. And in Windows 11, if I right click the image, it simply don't open in AF 2 and a message appears stating the this file not supported. Is there a way to stop this practice from occurring?
  12. I refined an already edited .afphoto image and selected the command ‘Save’ and when I opened the folder it appeared with an ‘afphoto~lock~ file association which is unsupported by affinity photo. Can anybody explained how this came about?.
  13. The inpainting tool the tool will not respond when i try to increase its size. All i get are the crosshairs. I find this frustrating. Can anybody help me?
  14. I have just downloaded the EXE version and it appears working ok with FastStone viewer. Thanks for your prompt assistance.
  15. When I open affinity Photo I’m prompted to download 2.1 MSIX which is not suitable for loading into my program files. Can anybody point me to the program compatible version.
  16. The double click in the layers panel did the trick. I am up and running and am greatly indebted to you for your step by step solution. I have no hesitation in recommending this rubric to anybody who want to stack Raw files in Affinity Photo. If it's okay with you Bruce I would like to post this solution on DPreview where i have a similar thread running. Thanks again. Bill
  17. I just started the process but fell at the first fence. As soon as i hit record i got an error message which said 'Please end your recording session before using develop'. Yes, I'm using Photo2, the exe version and followed the steps you outlined.
  18. I have 8 stacked raw ORF (Olympus) files. I want to develop the first file in the develop persona and sync the adjustments to the remaining seven before exporting them to the photo persona for merging. I know how to do this in photoshop but not in Affinity Photo. Can anybody help?
  19. I decided to soft proof some images yesterday. Some were quite badly out of gamut which I found difficult to clear. In my endeavours I changed the blend mode and surprise surprise I got the all clear. I saved the image as an AP image and when I reopen it again the gamut was still clear. At this stage, I exported the image as a jpeg and when I reopened it in AP, the out of gamut was back. I printed it with the out of Gamut and it turned out fine!! Explanation as to what to why the jpeg did not retain the correction would be appreciated.
  20. Thanks for drawing my attention to the soft proof adjustment layer. I wasn't aware of its existence. It has done its magic for me. Thanks
  21. How does one correct out of colour gamut. I use the Qimage utility for printing. On my recent images I have been getting out of colour gamut warnings. Up to now I have never bother checking for out of gamut and prints have turned out fine. This time around my prints came out sickly looking. In fact they printed showing that horrible, looking out of gamut grey. I have rechecked my settings but to no avail. For example I processed and printed the image using the sRGB profile and it still was out of gamut. Can anybody shed any light on what may be wrong?
  22. I have installed upgrade 2.03 and note lots of outstanding fixes. With regards accessing AP 2 via external editing programmes viz FastStone is this now possible with 2.0.3
  23. Thanks Bruce for your quick response. Yes, dragging the adjustment layer onto the pixel layer works fine. But what has happened to' Mask below'?
  24. In AP 1 when I wanted to change an adjustment layer into a child layer, I simply right chicked the layer and selected mask below. In AP2, this does not work for me. Please can anybody enlighten me.
  25. Thanks for the file path to Affinityphoto2. Unfortunately this file can not be accessed by the system!! Back to square one again. Does anybody know a way around this road block?
