Caramba Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Hi, the title describes my problem pretty much. I am on macOS with Affinity Photo 2 and have set my document to millimetres. However, everything I do with the transform tool is in pixels. This drives me crazy, since I have to place and select items by the millimetre. Even If type the value with "mm" attached - it transforms it into pixels - e.g. I type "10 mm" and it will show "118,1 px". Can anyone help me to get this to millimetres? Quote

Caramba Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 Thanks for the quick reply. Please see the screenshots attached. According to the top left corner and the ruler it is set to millimetres. Still, the transform box show up in pixels. Quote
Staff Callum Posted March 31, 2023 Staff Posted March 31, 2023 Hi Caramba, This is by design when using a selection tool. You can read more about this here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/103810-affinity-photo-designer-units-in-transform-panel-switch-from-millimeters-to-pixel-when-selecting-marquee-or-lasso/ Thanks C Pšenda 1 Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
Caramba Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) What? I have Affinity Photo 1.10.5.1342 on Windows and can work with millimetres. So you are telling me that Serif has changed this in Affinity Photo 2? Edited March 31, 2023 by Caramba Quote

Apparently it got changed in V2: In Callum's link MEB wrote 2019 "There's an issue on Windows preventing it from displaying the selection size in px in the Transform panel." I agree this may disturb in certain workflows. Nevertheless, as workaround we can enter the values in mm (by typing the unit, too), also a switch to the Move Tool shows these values in the document units, e.g. millimetres, while they are displayed in the Information panel exclusively in the current document unit.
