when adding contour on complex vectors, the result will delete some of the selected layers (Video for reference) 

For other people with the same issue, my work around is to select all the layers that you want to add contour and click on Divide function before adding contour (Workaround also showcased in the reference video)

 

 

downside is you may end up with more than necessary layers.

Would it be possible to get a copy of that vector, not the entire document just that one shown in the video copied to a blank new document and saved. So I may do some testing ?

Affinity's current implementation of contouring tends to force 'Open' mode when there is a self-intersecting loop in a curve.

Divide helps because it separates a curve into multiple curves at its self-intersections.
