true_blue1878 Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 For example like take the Netherlands flag and drag it across a background sideways while leaving a sort of transparent with slight glow colour trail? I have affinity photo 1 Thanks! Quote
GarryP Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 While I don’t fully understand what you mean by “sort of transparent” or “slight glow colour”, one quick option would be to duplicate the flag, stretch the duplicate layer, add a mask to the duplicate, and put a gradient fill on the mask – see attached image. If this isn't what you want then you might need to be a bit more precise in your requirements. true_blue1878 1 Quote
Pšenda Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 If the embedded image was supposed to be an example of what you want to achieve, I guess I misunderstood. But according to the description, I would try a shifted copy of the flag + Motion blur, or Gradient, and decrease the Opacity. true_blue1878 1 Quote Affinity Store (MSI/EXE): Affinity Suite (ADe, APh, APu) 2.5.7.2948 (Retail) Dell OptiPlex 7060, i5-8500 3.00 GHz, 16 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Dell P2417H 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100.2605. true_blue1878 Posted March 16, 2023 Author Posted March 16, 2023 This is close to what I want thanks guys!! And is it possible to make it look more natural like if you were to freehand sorta sideways S shaped trail? I'll try to find examples of what I mean. But I've seen lots of things done especially in sport or action settings and the player/actor leaves a trail which is kinda like a ghostly glow. But this is close to what im trying to achieve but maybe with a smokey glow trail to give like an electric / energised look. Cheers 🙂 Quote
carl123 Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 You could start by looking into the Motion Blur filter true_blue1878 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. true_blue1878 Posted March 16, 2023 Author Posted March 16, 2023 Good point.. And maybe I can add a glowing outline to the effect after? I'll have a test. Cheers! Quote
GarryP Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 There was a tutorial posted in the forums years back that was about this sort of thing but I can’t find it. However, this thread might be useful: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/167212-how-to-create-a-pixel-stretch-effect-in-affinity-photo/ true_blue1878 1 Quote
