Hey ho Affinity forum,

I'm begging for adding fields without filename extension – is there any light to be seen in the future versions? 🙂

Cheers

Hi @Elmar and welcome to the forums...

Under General Preferences in Publisher, the sixth checkbox is Automatically hide extension which should hopefully, give you what you're looking for...

Affinity Designer 2.6.3 | Affinity Photo 2.6.3 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.3
MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse
HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse

Hi Hangman,

thx for this speedy answer 🙂  I have ticked the sixth checkbox, but when I place a field for naming my invoice by its filename, Publisher still ads the filename extension (see screenshots)

But I love Publisher ;-)

Thx
Elmar

I'm on Publisher 2.6.2 and there doesn't seem to be an "Automatically hide extensions" option.  Has this option moved? I browsed all the other settings sections without locating it.  Is it possible to insert the filename field without the extension?

I believe the hide extensions option is Mac only. I checked the Help system and this option isn't included in the Windows version of the page.

I see that this feature has been requested more than once, starting immediately after the first release in 2019.

Is there a process to (re-)submit an official enhancement request?

Posting here (or in any other topic asking for it in the Feedback section) that you want it is that process. You could create your own topic to make sure that what you want is clear.
