Not sure how to fix this. When I click a brushes for erase or paint sometimes the image appears sometimes not. But when I resize by brackets or by typing it in the image disappears. Sometimes clicking it on the page will make it reappears however it may not be in the size I need and if I Ctrl+z it disappears again.

My apologies, I'm not certain what you mean by this - if you have Protect Alpha enabled on the Context Toolbar, please untick this option as it may cause your brush tools to appear not to work.

If you are typing your brush size into the relevant field, but have not successfully selected the field before beginning to type, you will activate the Opacity quick keys function, whereby the numbers you type will change the opacity of the layer you have selected.

For example, with an image selected and no input dialog in focus, typing "2" will set the layer to 20% opacity.

This would also explain why CTRL+Z would make the image 'appear/disappear' again - if you're ever unsure of the exact steps that have been taken to result in the current document view, I'd recommend checking the History Studio as this should have detailed steps for the last actions taken.

I hope this helps!

I've added pix to help explain better. I added what was happening on each image but if it's not readable I can retype it here.

This happens on different brush files at different times. They all worked on Affinity V1 without a problem but are acting up on V2. Right now I'm clicking off in the grey area a few times until I can see if the size is good before using them. I can't see why a layer would appear in the layer panel when there is nothing there.

Thanks for the screenshots provided - I can see in the first screenshot you already have a Pixel layer added to the document, which appears to already have this brush applied, but I can see it's not being displayed on the canvas which certainly doesn't look expected.

Are you able to attach a copy of this .afphoto file here for me so I can investigate further? :)

I reproduced it in another file, the other was deleted. But the same thing happened. It doesn't happen to all my brushes but usually it's one's I made in Affinity Photo V1.

This probably has nothing to do with it but the preference panels started not keeping my choices so maybe I'll have reinstall it again (2nd time) or go back to V1.

Thanks for helping out.

Thanks for providing that for me!

I can see 2 skull 'stamps' in this file, the larger one and the smaller skull within this -

This may be related to the Brush Engine changes in Affinity V2 compared to V1 - as I note you mentioned making the brushes there. Are you able to attach a copy of your .afbrushes files here so that I can test directly with these? :)

Could be a dynamics issue. The brushes are working but the Size jitter is at 100% for brushes that are already large Try adjusting the Dynamics individually for each brush. The brushes import Ok Into Designer but as far as I can see none are configured correctly...For brushes like the chains adjust the Rotation jitter until it appears as you require it

Many thanks for providing those for me - I believe I have found the cause of the issue here.

Firstly, with Size Jitter set to 100% Random, the first use of the brush is at '0%' size, meaning no brush stroke is added.

Secondly, changing the brush Size Jitter to 99%, the first use of the brush is now visible at 1%, however each time the brush is selected the first 'click' is at the same 1%, which isn't random as I'd expect.

I'm logging these bugs with our development team now, but if you right-click the brush and select Edit Brush, then under the Dynamics tab change the Size Jitter to 99%, you should find this always paints the skull, at least 1% size or larger.

I hope this helps :)

Thank you SO much. I adjusted each brush, exported them and reinstalled the categories back into my programs and the work just fine now.

Thank you all that helped out. Hugs to you all.
