Old Bruce Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 I may be missing something obvious but I cannot make foot notes "split" in the new (2.1.0) betas. By "split" I mean I cannot have a note in the text on the bottom of page 2 and have the Footnote be on page 3. The line of text with the note in it is moved over to page 3. I guess it is to be on the same page as the footnote. As I said in the title this is with two columns so I may be missing a basic text flow concept. Two columns of text, with the Footnotes being across the two columns at the bottom of the frame, not two separate columns of footnotes. walt.farrell Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Did it work differently in 2.0.4? 22 minutes ago, Old Bruce said: By "split" I mean I cannot have a note in the text on the bottom of page 2 and have the Footnote be on page 3. As far as I know, a Split footnote is one where the footnote text starts on one page and continues to another. But I would expect the reference to still be on the same page as the first line of the footnote text. From the Notes Panel Help, https://affinity.help/publisher2/en-US.lproj/pages/Panels/notesPanel.html Quote Allow split notes—when selected, footnote/sidenote bodies can begin in one text frame and continue in another. When unselected, Affinity attempts to keep each body's lines together on the same page; story text may reflow, but unwanted whitespace may occur in some text frames. MikeTO Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Walt is correct, this feature just allows long notes to be split across two columns or frames. walt.farrell 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.3, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)
