Hi, I have this issue off and on with v1 and v2. I'm told that it's due to using iCloud - are you using iCloud or another cloud storage option?

The problem is Affinity loses connection to the file and can't save over it. Fortunately, this isn't a terrible problem because as you've discovered you can just use Save As and create a new file. I hope it gets fixed soon because it's unsettling and inconvenient, but it's easy to work around.

Cheers

Hi, thanks for the speedy reply. No Im not saving to a cloud, rather an external drive.  Its not the worst thing ever, considering I'll just save as, but it might get a little annoying

thanks again

Your file looks quite simple as regards the number of layers etc but if it was a more complex file, it may not have completely loaded into memory so a File > Save as... may not work in those circumstances.

Affinity highly recommends only working on local drives and using external drive for backups only

What sort of external drive were you working from/saving to?

If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Using a SSD external. Never had issues before. I don't save to hard drive because its only got 128gb.  I'll try to create some space on the hard drive for saving to.

thanks for assistance

I've had this issue recently (and frequently) with Zoho WorkDrive (a cloud storage drive) using both Publisher and Designer. For me, it hasn't been a minor problem. I was unable to recover files, the software froze, and the only way to restart the software was rebooting MacOS. I guess I'll have to keep active files on my local drive -- something of an inconvenience.

You should probably discuss in the topic you started earlier:

If you scatter the conversation you're less likely to get it solved.

Additionally, there are questions for you to answer, that are needed to help you, in that other topic.

Why not go there and look? That's why I provided the pointer.

I understand you're upset, but no one can help you without additional information.

has there ever been a resolution to this issue? I just starting getting this after the latest upgrade. I am on windows. This is the only application I am getting this error in and it worked until I upgrade to 2.3.image.png.b8ea94d189695a77ed668739001e908c.png
