That's odd because they work for me in 2.1 beta on macOS 13.2.1. Are they not changing at all or are they having no effect on text? Do you have the text caret in the text in a Frame Text text frame? Those arrows do not respond to my clicks. It's like they are purely decorative. And it's not only those from my screenshot. Anywhere there is an input field, those buttons are disabled. They do work in Publisher v2.0 and in Designer v2.0 and v2.1 beta. Earlier today MEB acknowledged this issue, but now I see that he deleted the message for some reason. Stuart Tetley
I may have some insights on this. I had similar issues with 'Positioning and Transform' part of the 'Character' Studio and found this post while checking if what I have observed has been reported. I'll try to explain in detail what I'm seeing. Referring to the screenshot below. Most of the buttons work as expected, except where highlighted The 'Baseline' and 'Leading Override' buttons (highlighted yellow) respond to clicks but don't change the values in any way. The 'Tracking' buttons (highlighted red) behave quite differently. The first click (up or down) works, and changes the value. However, click again, and nothing further happens. You should find now that *all* the up/down buttons are now completely unresponsive. Not only in here, but also in the 'Spacing' and 'Tab Stops' parts of the 'Paragraph' Studio. Additionally, I found that the buttons in the Tab Stops' area also has the potential to 'freeze' things. The top-level one is OK, but clicking any of the buttons in actual tab stops below (red highlight) freezes things up. The 'freeze' only affects the tiny up/down buttons. Other dropdown and edits continue to work. Once 'frozen', application restart is needed to get things working again. Hope this helps. This is with version 2.1.0.1709 on macOS 12.6.3 and appears to affect Publisher, Designer and Photo equally. In 1709, the spinners (up/down arrows) are completely broken. It's confusing because the symptoms can vary depending on which you click first and whether or not there's a text frame selected. But once you've triggered the freeze as Stuart aptly named it, no spinner controls will work anywhere in Affinity. Tracking is a good one to trigger it with but it's easy to trigger this bug. Closing the document and creating a new one will have no effect. You must restart Affinity once this happens. Staff Sean P Posted February 24, 2023 Staff Share Posted February 24, 2023 Thank you all for your input on this. I've replicated it and will get it logged. Interestingly on Big Sur the Baseline and Leading Override spinners in the Character Panel cannot be changed, but the Tracking spinners are fine and don't prevent the lock out you're seeing. However on Ventura, the Baseline and Leading spinners still cannot be changed, but the Tracking spinner sticks at 1 and then prevents the others from working as you've mentioned! Staff Affinity Info Bot Posted March 21, 2023 Staff Share Posted March 21, 2023 The issue "Adjusting spinners in Character Panel can cause all spinners to stop working" (REF: AFB-7390) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1732". This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release. Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions. If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
