Hi,

i reported before that certain essential operations are unbearable slow using Apple Pencil. It got worse.

With V2.0.4, it has become impossible to adjust nodes of gradient fill. Affinity always freezes for a few seconds if you drag a node slowly while the fill tool is active. Restarting the App does not help.

i will add a test file and screen recording soon.

Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.

I use iPad screenshots and videos even in the Desktop section of the forum when I expect no relevant difference.

The issue is worst if layer uses blend mode „difference“. But even in „normal“ it is absolutely unusable.

i was swiping the node slowly and steadily, but Affinity freezes over and over again.

First part with pencil, last seconds with finger/touch.

If you activate snapping, it’s getting worse again.

These issues started with V2 and continued in all updates.

Hi NotMyFault,

Thanks for letting us know - this isn't actually knew to 2.0.4, but also affects 2.0.1 and 2.0.3. It only seems to occur when the magnifier appears whilst using the Gradient Tool.

I'll get this logged with development.

Hi, as I raised in a seperate post, the magnifying slowdown also occurs using a perception filter and dragging those nodes too, so id figure it may affect other tools that have that magnifying effect also.

Thank you Sean for taking care.
The issue is not limited to gradient tool. It affects any operation where you have to adjust nodes and the magnifier appears unavailable unavoidable:

  • perspective, mesh warp filter
  • There are other tools I can’t find right now

Unfortunately this issue is still present in the 2.1 beta. It is also occurring with the new Style Picker tool, if you drag to select a style rather than tap.
