Zimbalimba Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Hi! I've been using Photo version 1 for long time and switched to version 2. I found at least two annoying issues that could not been solved yet. 1) The marquee selection tool doesn't work at all with RAW-files. It selects always whole layer, not intended area. I can resize and move the area normally, but when copying, cutting or relocating the content inside the selected area, the action takes place on the whole layer. BUT: it works normally with JPEG and TIFF -files for excample. Back on Photo V1 everything works perfectly with identical files and adjustments. 2) Colour balance adjustment tool doesn't work for 100%. RAW-file and this basic tool have serious issue on shadows-adjustment slider. When selecting any negative value on shadows dropdown menu, colours turn to extreme: the cyan, magenta and yellow. With positive values the tool behaves normally. ALSO when adjusting midtones or highlights everything works perfectly: with any negative/positive value. It is just the shadow adjustment that doesn't work. Filetype doesn't make any difference at this moment, JPEG, TIFF or any RAW-file, the tool fails. BUT: on Photo V1 I noticed that the same issue could appear when file was in RGB/32 (HDR) -format, but not in regular RGB/16. On Photo V2 the situation is the opposite: if the document working space is in RGB/32 (HDR) -format, I can use the colour adjustment tool normally for 100%. I use several RAW-types from Sony, Fujifilm and Canon, some images are converted in DXO PureRaw2, but the same problems persist with all files. Thanks for help! Quote
walt.farrell Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. For #1: you're trying to work with pixels, but you have Developed to an Embedded or Linked RAW layer, not to a Pixel layer. The RAW layer is like an Image layer, where you can't work with individual pixels. You'll need to Develop to a Pixel layer (see the Output setting in the Context Toolbar while Developing), or Rasterize the layer you already have, to work with its pixels. I don't have an answer for #2, but a comment: the forum works better if you report one bug per topic. Zimbalimba Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 Thanks walt.farrel, that solved my problem. I was so used to use embedded layer instead of normal pixel layer. Thanks again! Quote
