Hi, I'm having an issue with text frames that doesn't appear in new documents but only in the one I've imported from an older (InDesign) file. So it is not bug but some wrong setting in my document, but I can't find out which.

I have text frames with a given text size. But whenever the frame is full and I need to create / link it to another text frame, the text there is tiny, 1.1 p (!), no matter how big the source text is (9p in the screenshot). This must be some wrong information in these imported text frames because when I create a new one, everything is o.k. 😳

Thanks a lot for a hint!

This is a long outstanding unfixed bug with IDML oder PDF. Hint 1: Reapply Text Styles (Text Styles panel) or Hint 2: Copy the complete text. Delete the old text frames, create new ones and paste the text back in.

It doesn't just relate to IDML - can also come from re-sizing a frame in a way you don't expect.  Reapply text styles didn't work for me - Joe's method 2 did:  copy all the text from the linked frames, delete and then paste back.

Thanks a lot, that works for me, too! 👍

…which is no explanation / solution, though. 😅 But for the moment, I'm fine with it.

Another user has recently suggested a simpler fix, but I don't know if it would work for this situation when it is caused by the IDML issue. It works for the "user rescaled the frame" version of the problem.

  1. Select the Text Frame with the incorrect text. (Do not select the text; just the frame. So, perhaps click on the Frame in the Layers panel.)
  2. Edit > Defaults > Revert (or click the Toolbar icon)
