n_shcherbakov Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 (edited) As I work, I always switch between tools only through hotkeys. It's frustrating that some tools that are similar in nature have the same cursor. Rectangle, circle, polygon or star - the same cross is everywhere and it causes a lack of feedback: did I switch to another tool or not by pressing a hotkey? Or did I accidentally miss and press the wrong hotkey? Now you can only find out empirically by starting to draw - it's a small but waste of time. It would be great if cursors immediately pointed to the selected tool. Â Edited December 21, 2022 by n_shcherbakov MoonaticDestiny 1 Quote
MikeTO Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 In the meantime you might consider tweaking your shortcuts. I found that the tool cycling would lead to me ending up with artistic text or the table tool selected instead of the text frame tool that I expected. I have shortcuts set for only the most common tools and everything else I choose manually so I never end up with unexpected objects now. Of course, there will be no error when selecting manually, but it is a waste of time, even if it is a small one. About setting up shortcuts: this is the first thing I do in any program I use more or less regularly. Indeed, I have custom shortcuts to automate mode switching in the upper panel (double-clicking on the tilde automatically toggles Enable Transform Origins, Hide Selection while Dragging, Show Aligment Handles, Rubber Band mode in Pen Tool and enables strokes modes: Butt Cap, Mitre Join) What to say about tool shortcuts? 🙂 *oh yeah: most usable tools and commands have binds on my mouse.  AD shortcuts.mp4 Edited December 21, 2022 by n_shcherbakov Quote

n_shcherbakov Posted December 22, 2022 Author Posted December 22, 2022 Ok: ...or by looking at the upper left/bottom corner. However, this is also a waste of time: it is a misery to shift your gaze to the instrument, especially when working at a large display. Quote
