Split: Desktop Shortcuts not working for V2

Recommended Posts

Hi EmT, I am so sorry for not responding until now. I have not been into these forums since posting my message and I just saw the notification bell. I reached a point where everything had to be opened from the files themselves (right-click and Open with...) or dragged and dropped and I got used to this.

Now, after update 2.0.3, none of my software opens at all if using the desktop shortcuts (even after creating new shortcuts pointing to the updated files, which should be done automatically by any professionally written piece of software). I have to keep the software installation files (all 1.73GB of them) and click on those. This results in a dialog box appearing saying the software is already installed and asking if I want to reinstall or launch. Choosing launch actually works. Alternatively, I can still right-click on files and choose Open with and that does launch the software. Very annoying when I want to open, say Publisher, and create a new document.

Can you see the applications in your start menu? Or do they show up if you search for them on the taskbar search?

How did you create the shortcuts?

The shortcut not being created automatically is expected and is down to how MSIX packages work. The link below should advise you how to create a desktop shortcut, and you can find out more on why we are using MSIX installers here.
