creatorsite
Maybe I'm using the wrong language, but I've not been able to find the instructions for filling text with an image. Found one youtube, but it was worthless because they don't talk. However, they describe it as "creating text with images inside." Where might I find detailed instructions? Staff MEB Posted January 29, 2016 Staff Share Posted January 29, 2016 Hi creatorsite, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Make sure your image overlaps the text, then go to the Layers panel and drag the image layer over the text layer (to nest/attach it to the text). R C-R
Try it the other way: drag the text layer onto the image layer's thumbnail. Staff MEB Posted January 29, 2016 Staff Share Posted January 29, 2016 It does work. You have to drag it over the text layer - the area on the right - not over the text thumbnail's layer. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
JimmyJack
Yes it works BOTH ways :). 1) text is mask of image or 2) image is child of text
Staff MEB Posted January 30, 2016 Staff Share Posted January 30, 2016 Yes, masking also does it, but since there's no need for different opacities here, layer clipping would suffice, that's why i suggested it. In Affinity however both are similarly easy to apply so the point above is a little irrelevant. In the end both provide the same result. mswsnc
I really wish there was a step by step tutorial for this! If there is anything other than the youtube which isn't narrated, I haven't found it. I am not an experienced designer by any means but I've had success with some things thanks to research and trial and error but I could use more help on this. Perhaps I'm not searching for the right topic on the forum but I'm not sure what other term to use. Thanks!
