Hi Tony.

When you close Affinity by clicking the red close button in the upper left corner, you're not actually closing Affinity - you're just closing the main application window and any documents in it. Affinity remains open and you'll still see its menus at the top of the screen, along with any undocked panels (palettes). The docked panels are part of the main application window so they disappear and just the undocked ones or floated document windows remain open. This can be confusing.

The macOS standard is that if an application has multiple document documents, like Pages or Safari, then closing a document window should not quit the application, even if it's the last open document window and all that remains is the menu bar. But for an application that has a single application window, like Photos or Affinity, then closing the application window should quit the application. Affinity doesn't do this and remains open which is confusing.

Just remember to quit Affinity with the Cmd+Q or the Affinity menu > Quit and all will be fine.

Cheers

We can have multiple windows open in Photo, drag the tabs from the main window and you'll see that you have many open windows. There is a "bug" (or poorly designed interface) in that if you have the main window chosen you can close that and just have the smaller windows from the  application showing. No access to the tools or any of the panels which were in the Studios, Left and Right. You have to Merge all windows and "hey everything has disappeared" Then if you make a new document you'll have all the little windows and the new one in a "Main" window again.

Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
