Stroke Alignment for Open Curves

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!
New from the Adobe Suite. Much to like in the Affinity Suite, also still a bit unstable, but it is 2.0.0 after all. I am currently validating if it is worth it for me to switch over from Adobe to affinity for my design needs. Looks not all too bad.

I will update my post here with things i want/need to see to make the complete switch:

Designer:
Stroke Alignment for Open Curves as discussed here. I get that it is more complicated than assumed, but Illustrator can handle it so it is possible...

Photo:
More intuitive Free Transform Tool. We need the "Distort"-Function as in Photoshop without applying a Perspective Filter. For Concept Art it is an often used tool and should be more accessible. In Photoshop it is as easy as holding down "Command" and dragging on the Points of the Bounding Box.

In Illustrator you cannot change the stroke alignment on open paths. It’s always centered.

True. I just checked that in AI CS5.

But I remember having used an application where it was possible. Was it Freehand?
(Note to self: install FH9 in SheepShaver already!)

You are right! Sorry for the confusion.  But it would be a nice feature anyway... :)
