LostInTranslation Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 I believe, this is a bug: Shared assets in V2 is an absolute godsent. I have imported my collection of pallettes (colors & gradients) into Designer. Lo and behold, they also show up in Photo. Brilliant! Not in Publisher though. And not in Publisher's Designer persona. BUT in Publisher's Photo persona, they are there. v2.00, Windows10 Quote
walt.farrell Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 For your own collections, have you Linked them , or set your Preferences so new categories are automatically Linked? One of those is required. But here's what I did: 1) Export pallettes from Designer and Photo V1 2) Import all into Designer as Application pallettes 3) They immediately show up in Photo as well 4) not in Publisher, as explained above If I did something wrong, can you please explain? walt.farrell Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 First, there's a setting in the Preferences for each App that determines whether new content you create or add manually is automatically shared or not: If it is off, as I show above, then if you create a new Palette it will not be shared with the other applications. Here's a Palette I created in Designer 2, with that setting off. Note the icon to the left of the Palette name: Here's one with that setting on. Note the different icon: If I look in Photo 2 and Publisher 2, I should not find _test, but I should find _test-linked. Unfortunately, something is going wrong in 2.0.0 for me, as the linked Palette is not appearing. But that's the concept: Palettes, Asset categories, Brush categories, etc. that you install and that you mark Linked (automatically, or via the burger menu) will appear in the other applications. Palettes, Asset categories, Brush categories, tec. that you install that are not linked will not show up in the other applications, except (I think) that unlinked items you install in Photo 2 will show up in the Photo Persona of Publisher 2, and unlinked items you install in Designer 2 will show up in the Designer Persona of Publisher 2. The Store Content you download/install via Account is automatically present in all 3 applications, as applicable. And it has a different icon, perhaps a shopping bag. Don't know if this was the correct way, but I deleted all user pallettes, installed them new in Publisher and now they seem to show up everywhere. Problem solved, not very intuitively though. Since this feature was promoted, why was it set to off by default? Anyway, thanks Walt! Quote
walt.farrell Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 You're welcome. Not sure why it was off, and also: having it off in Publisher should not affect the behavior of the other apps linking their content to Publisher. Only Publisher linking content to the other apps.
