When using the gradient fill on a rectangle of e.g. 100x10px it becomes unusable when trying to drag the nodes parallel to the smaller edge, but in the middle of the longer edge. At larger zoom levels, when getting under a certain limit (e.g. the radius of blue marks from “show touches”), the rendering freezes repeatedly for several seconds. Even if the freeze is over, the fill direction deviates from the nodes position.

Trigger is using a gradient with 2 nodes, and both nodes are close to each other so that the zoomed detail preview starts.

Same issue in other adjustments/ filters when the zoomed preview appears where the touch gesture covers the display,

Can this be turned off (especially when using a pen where it may distract more than helps)?

I cannot reproduce that laggy/freezing behaviour seen in the video.

The preview cannot be turned off, no. I think the problem here is the intricacy of working at such detail on a tiny object with the iPad. Obviously this would not be an issue on desktop but perhaps there is room to do better for iPad - I can log an improvement for you.

Getting the freeze issue resolved would be more important.

I have iPad OS 16.1.1 since yesterday. There are other bugs depending on this OS version (normals adjustment crash).

Issue Same on Designer and Photo

no issue on V1 on same device.
