I have tested this with several .afphoto files and a .jpg.

Open the file, click the file menu, instant crash.

Two lines are generated in the log when the menu is clicked:

ExternalApp: *** starting Edit In... app search for Designer ***
ExternalApp: looking for compatible version of Designer...

The log ends there.

I have tried this and it works OK on my machine so it may not be a universal issue?

Is your windows version fully updated? Serif will need more details of your system and windows software etc.

I am on windows 10 home.

How are you opening the file? It seems that you're using some other method to open, then you're clicking on the File menu.

Could you please attach the Crash Reports to your post?

The crash happens only after I open the file. There is no crash report. There isn't even a "CrashReports" folder.

Yes, you're right, they're not where @Leigh posted they would be. Try looking at C:\Users\Username\.affinity\Photo\2.0\CrashReports\reports

You're correct. No idea why I had the other location listed - I've updated the FAQ  👍
