Some Questions not addressed in FAQ

1. Can all Version 1 Apps coexist with Version 2 on all platforms? (Recognizing V1 cannot open V2 and Publisher Studiolink works only with the same Version apps)?

2. If one has problems on V2 is there any way to get the files back to V1? Export and Import?

3. If necessary, will uninstalling V2 affect your V1 install (or vice versa)?

Absolutely, these are separate installs and you can have V1 & V2 of the Affinity suite installed on the same device without issue.

As you mentioned, V1 is unable to open V2 files, so we recommend working on and saving a copy of the file, such that the V1 version of the file remains. Failing this, you could export to PDF from V2, to import this back to V1.

It shouldn't - as mentioned above these are separate apps with separate install/app data locations, so you can install V2 without affecting V1, uninstall V1 without affecting V2, etc.

I hope this helps :)

@Dan C Thank you, that is what I was hoping, but on Question 2, I would obviously save the V1 file, but if all the work I start doing is in V2, I don't want to have to redo it all, so my question is really about how complete/accurate is the PDF export/import. Or would I be better off completing projects done in V1, in V1 and just using V2 for new work?

This depends entirely on the document, including the layer types you've used and other settings such as FX on the layer etc - though of course we aim to be as close the document as possible, when importing & exporting.

If you need to guarantee that your file will continue to work in V1, and this contains all the features you need then I'd recommend finishing these files in V1, then starting new projects in V2 - but the choice is completely yours :)

Can V2 file be saved or exported with "compatible with older v1" option selected ie similar to the way you would in adobe pdf settings?

No. It's mentioned in this FAQ:

None of the "native" files saved in V2 can be opened in V1: .afphoto, .afdesign, .afpub, .afbrushes, .afassets, etc.
