'Save History With Document' in general settings

Recommended Posts

I have to disagree quite strongly. Saving the history with the document can quickly increase the size of the file.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

As long as it is a Preference which defaults Off, rather than something forced (or On by default), I have no problem with it being implemented.

Like you, I probably wouldn't use it.

I would think there will be users who actually want it for some files but not for all of them.

If a preference is provided, rather than replacing the per-document option, I would think it should be used as a default for the existing option - in other words, it should determine whether or not the option is turned on for newly-created files, rather than having an effect on all of them across the board.

It would also be nice to have an option to clear history data prior to a certain point, so that you can keep history in the file, but at some point indicate that anything prior to a certain history step is no longer needed, thus freeing space in the file.  Perhaps a similar option to commit current branches if there is a branching history in the document, so that all of the inactive branches with their information get cleared out?
