deepspace-fine
The spellcheck in Affinity Publisher is flagging nearly every word as being incorrect, despite the spelling all being accurate. Does anyone know why this is happening or what I can do to resolve it? For now, I've just turned spellcheck off but I'd like to be able to use the feature. walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @deepspace-fine. We'll need more information. To start, please put the text cursor in one of those misspelled words, then give us a screenshot including the Character panel, with the Language section expanded. After that, it would help to know what OS you're using, what UI language you have specified in your Publisher Preferences, and the language and region and keyboard you have specified for your OS. SLVD
OS is WIN 11. Everything set to US English. This is very annoying. I uninstalled the latest version and reinstalled 1.9.0.932 with no luck. Edited September 26, 2022 by SLVD
walt.farrell
Thanks, @SLVD. Still need a screenshot with the text cursor in one of those words, and the Language section of the Character panel showing. Also, where did that text come from? iconoclast
Have you set the language for the spell checking in the Character Studio Panel?
SLVD
The text is part of a security newsletter I am putting together. Is this what you need?
SLVD
Where do I find the Character Studio Panel?
iconoclast
In the "View" menu under "Studio". You need to select the text and then set the "Language" to "English" (or whatever you need).
SLVD
I do not see "Language"
iconoclast
But you see "Character"? The panel must be somewhere on your screen, because there is a hook, that says it is activated. Inside this panel there is a section called "Language". If you can't see any panels on your screen, you possibly have hit the TAB key by accident. Press it again and the panels will reappear. If the Character Panel is in the same tab group as some other studio panels, when it is not selected its tab may be abbreviated, like to just "Chr" or something similar. iconoclast
You find the "View" menu on top of the GUI. In that menu there is an entry "Studio" in which you find the entry "Character". This one should open the "Character" Studio Panel, if it isn't already opened. At the bottom of that panel, there is the section "Language". If it doesn't work with unselected text, simply try it with selected text (Ctrl+A on Windows).
