Setting to increase preview DPI for linked vector PDF

Currently, if I link a vector PDF, it may come in as rasterised:

Changing the settings to interpret, rather than passthrough allows me to get it to display as a vector. However, I would like to also be able to change the resolution the document is rendered in after linking it in.

If I change these settings, it scales the document, I would instead like to increase the resolution only, so I can use the passthrough mode. So for instance the 581x652 pixels would be increased/ decreased accordingly. Ideally, I would like a DPI change, but not have my document be scaled.

I don't think it "comes in rasterized". Rather, with Passthrough you are seeing a rasterized version so you see an accurate view of the PDF contents. The contents, though, are still vector if they were vector originally.

The DPI shown there has no effect on Passthrough mode, and no effect on vector files, as far as I know.

Thing is, the preview quality is way too low to work with.

I am using vector files and vector formats to work with vectors, i don't want to see any pixel approximations.

A linked Document will have its DPI/PPI unchanged by anything we do to the Document it is placed into.  

What does the exported document look like? Is the DPI of the linked PDF's image high or stuck at 72 DPI/PPI? More importantly do an experiment, place the above map PDF twice, once as Interpret and once as Passthrough and export to your file format of choice and look at the two maps.

Can't you just ignore how it looks? It should Export appropriately.
