When doing a data merge I'm unable to insert fields.

I've selected a data source which is being previewed in the 'Fields' section.  I then highlight the appropriate text in the document and double click on the data field to insert it & it does nothing.

Is there a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I purchased the software to specifically use this feature.  Any ideas?

Hello @carat,

welcome to this forum.

I can only guess, it is not enough that the Frame Text box is checked.

A double click in the Frame Text the cursor blinking   and then

a double click on the Field in Data Merge, the data are inserted in the Frame Text.

Cheers

Can you please confirm for me, whereabouts in the field studio are your double clicking? Is this on the Name of the Data Merge Field, or on the actual Data Merge Field data itself?
ie - the red, or green side?

Many thanks in advance!

I just want to say a huge thank you Dan C! I was going mad with the fields not double clicking.
In none of the tutorials I've seen do they make it clear the left area is the place to double click, in fact in the videos, their cursor is actually on the right side when they double click, adding to the confusion.
Thank you!

For me double clicking on either side (red/green, left/right) gives me the desired result of the field being placed. Is this maybe a Mac (me) versus Windows thing?

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Yep, I came to that conclusion. Having noticed the tutorials I watched are very recent (so can't be out of date), I figured they must have been created on macs, as I'm using windows.
