Hey guys,

I would like to have the stars change colour when overlapping the different colour background. I tried to demonstrate it with the big star in the middle but you can see that the solution is far from perfect. I hope there might be an easier way to have the curve change adapt a new colour exactly on the border to a different object.

So in the end, the upper star should have a blue border line as soon as it covers the white background. And the lower star should have a white border line as soon as it is on top of the blue background. Is there any feature to support that? If not, is there any way to achieve that. I tried to look in the internet for help, but didn't find any tutorials or how-to guides with the search terms that I could think of.

Thanks so much in advance! :)

If you have Affinity Designer you can do this quite easily via the Appearance panel:

The top star has an additional white stroke (which is slightly wider than the red stroke) and the bottom star has an additional blue stroke (which is again slightly wider than the red stroke).

Edit: When I read the bit about “a blue border line” and “a white border line” I thought you wanted an extra border on each shape, but I suspect that you just want the red border to change colour as in your middle example. You can probably achieve that by clever use of layer blend modes, but I’m not sure what the exact procedure would be.

Sorry that my phrasing led to a misunderstanding. I really meant to just change the colour of the star itself, not an additional border line.

I will look for more information on "layer blend modes", thanks. I'm still happy to get additional input on how to achieve the result :)
