dradept Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 When using Metal in performance settings on my mac Affinity Publisher is showing a black background rather than white, except for the top left quarter of the screen. The white background stays put as I move the page around, attached video. Tried different settings in performance; OpenGL, OpenGL basic with and without "use only integrated GPU" all work fine. I am using 1.10.5 latest update. Have now reverted to OpenGL with GPU. Any suggestions? Screen Recording 2022-05-10 at 09.33.57.mov Quote
Staff stokerg Posted May 10, 2022 Staff Posted May 10, 2022 HI @dradept, Which model/year Mac are you using and which version of MacOS does it run? Can you also post a screenshot of your Performance section of Preferences for Affinity? Quote
dradept Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 iMac (Retina 5k, 27-inch, 2019) macOS Monterey V12.3.1 Screen shot of current settings which works ok, only difference is when display is set to Metal I get the issue. Quote
Staff stokerg Posted May 11, 2022 Staff Posted May 11, 2022 Hi @dradept, I've got the same model Mac as yourself but with a AMD Radeon Pro 580X and i've not been able to replicate the problem. From speaking with QA they have seen a similar issue before with Affinity Designer on iPad where an Accessibility setting for Zoom was enabled in Settings for the iPad. So do you have of the Zoom options enabled under Settings>Accessibility>Zoom or any other app running on your Mac that would alter on screen scaling? Quote
dradept Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 Thanks for response. I have a Radeon Pro 570X 4 GB Accessibility features are not enabled. Not using screen scaling at all. Although I do have 3 screens connected. Affinity main editing area is running on the iMac itself. Quote

I usually get this occurrence when moving the Affinity main window from the external monitor to the internal macbook display + switching from Separated to Non-Separated Mode. Then switching again + back again appears to solve this issue of partially page white. Also closing open document(s) + reopening does help. dradept Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 Thanks Thomaso I have not moved the Affinity between windows but will try and see what happens. Quote

Sorry, not the move is the solution in my case. It is just that the issue occurs after I moved the main window. Then in my setup the solution is to toggle Separate Mode twice (without moving anything again). Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
chelrich Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I have this same issue when the Affinity Publisher window opens on my laptop screen. A workaround I have found is to move the Publisher window over to my external monitor and then back to my laptop. It is fixed as soon as I move it to the external monitor. Quote
