I am extremely limited by bugs in Affinity in which simple copy and paste operations can result in unpredictable changes in line widths. Many times a set of objects will paste with different line widths, making some objects much thicker or some seem to disappear because the thickness is so small. This happens especially when pasting to another artboard, but can also happen between files or occasionally within a file. Was happening sporadically before on Mac OSX 11.6.4, but after my Mac update to 11.6.5 today it seems much worse. Using Affinity Designer 1.10.5, latest version. Was happening on prior version as well. Any way to prevent this?

Hi @affino,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

Can you please provide a sample .afdesign file where this occurs, or a screen recording of the issue you're reporting?

If you are copying and pasting objects between documents with different DPI values then it's possible for your objects to appear differently - but this shouldn't be the case within one document.

Unfortunately I'm not able to replicate this issue from your report, so the more information / examples you can provide, the easier it will be for me to support you here.

Many thanks in advance!

I had the same issue, not only with line thicknesses, but also with text sizes, when not fixed in a style.

Copy and Paste from Designer to Publisher, Publisher to Publisher etc. resulted in changed line width and text size.
I use latest Version 2.5.2 on MacOS Ventura.

Source and targets where heavily based on third party PDF Imports and were lacking active intended dpi settings (source 144dpi, target 600dpi, taken from the PDF).

After syncing the dpi setting on the source side file to 600 dpi matching the target file, copying objects from Designer to Publisher without changig appearance / scaling of parameters went fine.

Remark: There is a difference between objects havin different structures (grouping , combined pathes etc.) Some retain theis absolute parameters, other loose them).

It was not possible to reproduce a pattern, how to force either of the two behaviours by ungrouping, regrouping  or other tricks.

Thanks for the information provided @acsr - I can confirm that our team are now aware of a few issues with pasting between documents with different DPI values, specifically;

  • Copy and pasting Artistic Text objects changes font size
  • Copy and pasting Grouped Text Frames changes font size
  • Copy and pasting Grouped Curves changes curve width
  • Copy and pasting Artboards directly changes both font size and curve width for relevant objects

If you believe you have found an issue that isn't covered by the above, please provide a screen recording or sample document(s) so our team can investigate further.

Many thanks :)
