Hello,

I'm not sure if this is a bug but it's extremely frustrating.  when I merge visible the new merge layer doesn't have the blur effects I added to the layers pre-merge.  I've gone back to older work and those files/projects suffer the same problem where as before they didn't.  is this a bug or did I unknowingly select/deselect a perimeter I'm unaware of?  this has effectively halted my productivity with this program.  I tried the factory reset but I'm unsure of how many boxes to tick.  I don't want to negatively effect files I've already worked on.  I can't find any information in the help/manual feature, nothing on google search, nothing on YouTube, and nothing in these forums.  any help or suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your issues.

Is it possible to share the file, and screenshots of what you observe?

Hi, thanks for the welcome!

there is nothing to screenshot really.  I have a gaussian blur (both as a filter and live filter) active on a number of layers. I select merge visible.  then the blurs are removed on the new pixel (merged layer).  all other effects are still present on the newly merge layer.

It would really help us to help you if you share the requested information.
Nobody else reported the issues you observed, so we really need an example document and screenshots or even better video captures.
If nobody else is able to reproduce the issue nobody can help.

Have you looked at the file at 100% while merging visible because the blur does not change at 100% zoom.

here's a version of the file.  hit merge visible and the new layer removes the blur effects.  let me know what you think.  thanks!

It is probably a rendering issue. You have lots of layers using layer fx with blur, and added a blur layer. Noise and blur filters are prone to rendering issues.

If you zoom  to 200%, both versions are rendered identical. If viewed at 100% or below, the rendering differs.

This issue has been reported before, it depends on settings in preferences>performance.

Unfortunately, affinity does not provide accurate rendering below 200%

firstdefence and NotMyfault,

I see what you mean by the images being the same at 100% zoom.  the problem is when I print.  the blur doesn't carry over.

what settings in preferences>performance would I be looking at?

are there too many layers with the effect on?  I could take a bunch off, group some layers, then add the blur to just that.  maybe that would help?  I could also take the live effect I have on the group that's active off as well?

thank you both with your help

Out of an abundance of caution i would recommend to deactivate the intel GPU for Affinity. Some intel GPU drivers cause trouble.

Or try disabling OpenCL compute acceleration, or both.
