PLMan Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 When line is drawn with pen tool, it can be only shortened or extended without entering into node tool. For shapes edges can be freely edited. I think, that when pen tool is active, user can freely edit position of line edges. Quote

Try holding the Command key if you are on Mac. If you are on Windows maybe the control key will work, I am not certain about that. PLMan Posted April 3, 2022 Author Posted April 3, 2022 I understand methods of solving the problem. Report was just about inconsistency. Quote

PLMan Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 By "inconsistency" I understand that similar tasks needs to be made in different way. If I can easily move edges of shapes without additional keys - just with mouse, then edges of lines should be possible to modify in the same way. "Consistency" is one of basic rules for making projects of user interfaces in apps. Quote

Do you mean shapes created with Shape tools? But there is a significant difference - the shape created with Shape tools is "created" - its creation is thus completed, and then any other actions performed by the mouse can be understood as commands to "modify" the shape. In contrast, creating a curve with the Pen tool is "not complete" - and therefore any mouse actions must be understood as commands to create another node, even if it is in exactly the same location as an existing point (a common situation). Therefore, the editing of the still unfinished curve must be separated - and it is done using the Node tool (or the Ctrl modifier). This alleged inconsistency is due to the nature and complete diversity of these tools and procedures.
