firstdefence
Welcome to the forum @loy I think the best method is to export a file from Affinity Designer to EPS and see what issues you have when opening in Adobe Illustrator 8/9 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.4.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... You see I am an Adobe and Shutterstock contributor; and in order to sell vectors you have to send EPS files that are compatible with Adobe Illustrator versions 8 or 9. I want to know if the files exported in EPS in affinity designer are compatible with these versions of Adobe Illustrator.
firstdefence
The chances of anybody still using Adobe Illustrator 8 or 9 are slim at best, it's nigh on 20 years old. That said I would say the EPS export from Designer should be capable of producing a compatible EPS so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Shutterstock usually rejects EPS files, which can't fulfil their specifications, when you submit them. Unfortunately, it can be tricky at times to find out which of the specification hasn't been met. For vectors, it's usually added FX or some rasterized objects. Shutterstock won't accept some EPS even if they are 100% compatible with Adobe Illustrator V. 8/9. stokerg 1 Quote »A designer's job is to improve the general quality of life. Staff stokerg Posted March 22, 2022 Staff Share Posted March 22, 2022 Hi @loy, There is some information on this thread for uploading to ShutterStock and few other threads if you search for the Forums. The EPS files Affinity exports can pass the checks needed as long as you stick a pure vector design, so no textured brushes, no embedded images, no Layer Fxs and even gradients could be an issue. How compatible they are with older versions of Ai, i don't know as i don't have access to one, but i can open an EPS files from Designer in latest version of Ai.
