shushustorm Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Hey everyone! I typically have dozens of images (each consisting of a layer group which includes the shapes) within the same file and I need to export them individually. For that, I can use the Export Persona and create a slice for each layer group and export the slices. However, most groups are shapes on a transparent background, so their bounding box doesn't use the full resolution of the file. This leads to "Create Slice" creating a much too small slice. I'd like to be able to optionally specify that each time I create a slice, it's at full resolution. The current limitation gets exhausting. I tried packing each of the groups with a background shape that spans the canvas size, but when I disable it after creating the slice, the bounds of the slice get adjusted automatically, resulting in using only the shape's bounding box once again. Best wishes, Shu Quote
NotMyFault Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Hi Shu, any chance you can upload an example afdesign document, a „too small“ export, and a „good export“? I struggle to replicate the issue. There is room for interpretation / clarification Document size and resolution, e.g. full HD and 72 dpi Artboard size, e.g. 640x480 Slice size, e.g. 200x200 What do you see as „full resolution“? Document or artboard? should the white space around a slice be preserved, or the slice upscale to the artboard size, or to the document size? in case of aspect ratio mismatch, how to scale, using the shortest side, or the longest side? Do you export to bitmap or vector formats? shushustorm 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | Windows 10 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. Don't disable it. Simply give it no stroke and no fill. shushustorm 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear. shushustorm Posted February 9, 2022 Author Posted February 9, 2022 Thanks for your replies! @NotMyFault Here is a video showing the issue: https://www.shushustorm.com/_Uploads/Serif/macOS/1_10_4/CreateSliceFullResolution.mov Here is the test file: https://www.shushustorm.com/_Uploads/Serif/macOS/1_10_4/CreateSliceFullResolution.afdesign I guess your questions are answered by that video? @Old Bruce Thanks for the suggestion! You're right! That does work! It's at least a bit faster that way, only having to duplicate the background for each group instead of having to drag all the slice borders to the bounds. Quote
shushustorm Posted October 8, 2022 Author Posted October 8, 2022 Ran into this the other way around: This time, the bounding box of some layers exceeded the file resolution, which resulted in the slices' bounds being placed outside of file bounds. Haven't yet found a better solution than just scaling down each one individually. Quote
