artnok Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 I'm trying to figure out if there's any solution to export some layered PDFs from Affinity Publisher to Indd. Has someone already succeeded in exporting such a file? Quote
Wosven Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Are you sure ID can manage layers in PDF? It's possible for PSD, but I don't think it's possible with PDF. Quote

Has someone already succeeded in exporting such a file? I used Layer layers to hold the Text and the Shapes in publisher then exported using the bog standard PDF (for export) preset. Does the PDF open with layers in InDesign? Untitled.afpub Untitled.pdf Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
artnok Posted January 3, 2022 Author Posted January 3, 2022 I can see the different types of layers in the option box while importing. But Indesign won't open separate layers. It seems that everything is rasterized with no options to edit the different contents. Vector shapes don't show up and text can't be edited. Wosven 1 Quote
Wosven Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Damn! === Ah bah ça alors, je n'avais jamais remarqué ! J'ai toujours les yeux focalisés sur le numéro de page ou les options de recadrage 🤣 artnok 1 Quote
artnok Posted January 6, 2022 Author Posted January 6, 2022 Yup... The question is : would it be possible to take benefit of this layer separation in INDD ? Quote

Yes, for example, to keep different versions of a logo in vectors, I usually export to PDF when I use the Affinity apps. This way, I could have 3 logos — colors, white, grey levels — in a file, without needing to move the PDF inside the frame, just displaying a particular layer. We could disable text on a map, or different elements if they are properly put in separate layers. But it can also cause trouble, since part of a hidden PDF "stay" in the document, even if not visible. Pantone, text, etc. It's possible it will add problems when needing to export to print. Quote
