putting 2 images on the same screen to compare and measure.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am designing a rental record (vinyl) label with an A and B side. The images on the back and front are similar and I want to make sure they are the same size. I would like to put both sides A+B up together on the screen to check they look good together and then measure them to make sure they are more or less the same size but I dont have the skills. Can anyone explain how or tell me which videos to watch. Thanks

If you are using Designer then using an Art Board for each label, A and B, would be the way to go as you will be able to see both labels side by side in the same document.
Or if you only have Photo you could have two separate documents for side A and B, and work in Separated Mode to keep both files visible at the same time on screen.
Regardless of which app you use, any content that's required in both sides can easily be copied and pasted from one to the other to maintain size.

Or, you could create a new document big enough to hold both images and then use File > Place to put each image into the new document for comparison.

Window > Float (or Float All)

Not as simple as it should be but still an option

Windows-only, though. (As Separated mode, mentioned above, is Mac-only.)

In answer to some of your questions in your PM earlier:
On Macs Separated Mode can be activated from the Menubar by going to: Window > Separated Mode.
You can find a brief description of Separated mode in Photos built-in Help files or at the online Help files here: https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/index.html

You can see the exact size of any given object on the canvas in the Transform panel. Select the object in the Layers panel while the Move tool is active to see it’s Width & Height and it’s exact XY position on the canvas.
If the Transform panel is not active it can be activated by going to: View > Studio > Transform and select it.
